My studies and healthy lifestyle are reflective of a nutritional approach, which emphasizes delicious organically grown and free-range food sources. These foods are full of vital and trace nutrients, which gives the body more energy and mental clarity. More and more people today, myself included, have discovered the higher level of health that eating well can bring, and how even a reduction in niggling aches and pains can be achieved. We are both what we eat and what we absorb.

Whilst there are many nutritional theories, there is one area where there is a growing majority coming together in agreement: a plant-based diet works, it is both kind to our bodies and the environment we live in.

From my own experience as someone who has practiced both yoga and eating a plant-based and at times a raw food diet for many years, I believe that the body and mind are best served when working in a synergistic way. At the heart of good nutrition is a creation of energy in the body, and yoga translates this life force into movement and serenity.

Detox and Juicing

Detoxification is a natural function of our body. Whether our daily routine may be healthy or unhealthy, our body can always benefit from a break to properly recharge and replenish. Perhaps seeing a detox like an oil change on a car, it’s absolutely essential for the long term functioning of your car. It’s the same for our body. Over time, our body gets run down and sluggish from the less healthy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and toxins in our everyday environment, plus the unhealthy habits and stress that build up in our daily lives. A detox gives your body the time, space, and right conditions to restore balance and vitality once again. The human body is amazing and always working to detoxify the organs of the body so they can function in the most effective way possible and ward off disease and infection.

Detoxification is one of the oldest and most effective healing methods throughout the ages.

“Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.”

Hippocrates and other great physicians throughout history prescribed detoxification. Cleansing has been helping heal people for 1000’s of years. Taking time to support your body in this process can give incredible health benefits. Some of these include:

• healing the body from illness
• strengthening your immune system
• helping reduce obesity

What is juice fasting?

Juice fasting is the choice to abstain from food for a period of days and instead consume healthy, vegetable based juices.

Juice contains many beneficial nutrients due to its healthy raw ingredients. As juice doesn’t have fiber, nutrients are absorbed more easily by your body as it doesn’t have to deal with digestion needs as with regular food.

Fresh juices are a great way too help your body let go of some of the toxins natuarlly and detox itself.

Its sometimes difficult to get your recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Juices can provide that extra nutrition you’re lacking in your diet.

Here are some of the benefits from juicing:

  • Helps you lose weight quickly
  • Improves nutrient absorption and digestion
  • Helps detox your liver
  • Lowers blood sugar levels
  • Helps lower cholesterol
  • Gives more energy and vitality and mental clarity
  • Balances emotional health
  • Improves athletic performance
  • Increases longevity
  • Slows down the ageing process
  • Gives radiant glowing skin
  • Generally improvement in your quality of life

Creating time in your life to go on a juice retreat can be life changing and a kick start into making healthy choices about the food we eat on a daily basis.

Becoming more aware of the foods we consume we can become mindful of eating. From the visual appreciation of the food on your plate, to a slow savoring of its taste, eating food is one of life's greatest pleasures, and is an expression of our innate desire to nourish and connect with one another.
